Vidro Fosco
Vidro Fosco is an interactive installation experiment that I created as my final project for my MA Animation degree at LCC.
I've always been curious about making physical experiences, and as someone who loves mixing media, doing something that breaks the boundaries of the screen is really exciting! So between January and June 2025, I developed a concept for an installation where people would enter a space and interact with various projects in order to bring a fairy to our dimension. It's a story of connection and fascination with the unknown, and the idea of being in the same "world" as a metaphor for connecting deeply with someone.
The installation is a durational piece, using projections, interactive objects, the Pepper's Ghost technique, and a physical model of the fairy. As you touch each object, the fairy moves to a different "dimension", bringing a small flower of her world with her which she's determined to give to the audience. This is achieved by using wire as a conductive object, which creates a current when you touch it and activates the video change. We used aluminium wire and wrapped it around the objects to create abstract shapes
I had the joy of collaborating with Yidi Chen, Bella Ciaramitaro and Michael Costing for this project! Yidi and Bella designed the interactive elements and helped me put the installation together, and Michael created the music and additional sound effects. My friend Sofia Afonso also designed a really cool poster for it! Thank you so much, everyone!
We made a small proof of concept version of the project and showed it to my class at hARTslane. Below is a showcase of the project with audience reactions.
